It took me a pretty amount of time and creative thinking to do this one. (I learned how to vector a image faster with a tut )

The forum I got it is going to be offline for remodeling for couple days(I'll PM you the link when it gets back)

But heres a short version(GIMP remember), not sure if this works with PS, never tried:

Make a one color gradient over your render.
Select the darkest parts of your render(with whatever tool you use)
Bucket fill
