How do you make sprites?

I see sprites all the time but how do you make them with MS paint? Like can someone write me a tutoral? thanks

It is rather, extremelly simple in MS paint, probably the best resource for spritting at a basic level.

Once you open a new image, click the Zoom tool, and zoom it all the way into 8X, so you get the max close up for each pixel.

Then, click See on the upper menu bar, click Zoom, then click Show Grid.

This will place a grid over the whole image, which will show you where each pixel goes. Then just use your imagination following the grid as a reference.

After that, you can either save your finished Sprite as a BMP, GIF, or JPG, or you can even Download The GIMP, which is a freeware version of Photoshop. Copy and paste your sprite in GIMP, remove the background, and save it in either GIF or PNG for a transparent background.

This is just the basic of how to create, and render up your sprites into a nice presentation format, the rest is your imagination and creativity into making your sprites. =D

i dont realy know how to write a way to do it
but this is how i do it..
(lets start with a basic rockman sprite)

1.pick a color you want him to be.(lets pick red)

2.now.see how many shades are on rockman?he isnt jsut one blue.

3.take red.and put it somwhere on your page. then doubble click red, and darken the shade.put that on thier too,and so on and so forth. till you have all of the shades you want.

4.watch the lightist read with the lightest blue on his body. and then do all the other colors.

5.blams its reshaded.(you might do this after you fuse new parts,doesnt realy matter what order...)

~use an existing part. if you want to make your own, skip down~
6.if you want a specific part, go to Edit then to Past From. then paste another sprite onto the sheet.(lets use protoman.)

7.take off the sword of protoman, and paste it on rockmans hand. you may notice that white apears where you took the sword from. with the selection tool being used,you should see two options. click the second one,(looks like a square going onto a page,and it blends with the background.) this will make everything white transparent.

8.reshade the sword so it matches rockman.

~make your own.~

1.take the shades you used, and add on, i find it easyest to do it in one color. then go back and reshade it the way a sprite has been re-shaded. it takes some practice. once i fix this thing on my computer, i will post pictures step by step so you can see.

It also works fast with Gimp´s color picker. Setting the Thereshold to 0.00, and clicking on the single pixel of the color you wish to change, will select that same shade of color atound the entire pick, then just take the Fill tool, tweak the options so it fills the entire selection, and drop it in. Faster! =D

I decided to make a pink/red rockman with gutsman's hand and protomans sword

the bright aqua fist looks a bit outof place, but other then that...

As far as I know, the colors for the are different. As the whole wrist has a darker blue than the one on the sprite, and the hand is a very, very dark blue.

i've had the same question. and i was suprise to learn that the program required was paint O.O......
