Sharpening my videos

So I followed XHunter's instructions to crop my AMV.

However, once the cropping is done, my AMV is significantly fuzzier than it was before the cropping. How can I fix this and make the image as sharp as it was before the cropping?

Installing better codecs could be an option, since the encodes(video's) are just as good as the codecs you used for the encoding

A simple explanation to this is that whichever codec you use to encode the final product sucks.

And to prevent that ... get better codecs. For example, get Microsoft Video Codec V1~V3. Those are pretty good and tend to make your AMV "non-fuzzy".

If that doesn't work, just send me the AMV or to Riku and we'll crop it.

Well I tried saving an AMV in Xvid instead of DivX and it seems to work well.

That explains everything, DivX is a crappy codec since you need to use like 300 different filters if you want good quality with it.
