Virus scanner needed T.T
It all started two weeks ago when I used a USB to work on my school project. Somehow a virus slipped through the schools virus scanners and traveled home with me. Unaware of anything I pluged it in. At that time I didn't have a program that would terminate any virus that comes. To cut a long story short my comp was infected by the Virtumonde / Vundo virus. It has the really neat ability to only display sites and links to other trojans and viruses. So when I became aware of Virtumonde I googled some removal programs, but I ended up with more viruses...
Eventually I managed to clear everything with SpyBot but I wasn't finished yet, my Iexplorer was still infected. Everytime when I clicked it, it would automatically try and download the virus again. At the same time we were cut from the internet by our provider because the virus could infect their servers. It couldn't be planned better because now I had the chance of saving all the stuff on my computer. Reboot, format, and we were back in business!! Windows update gave me a notice of Service Pack 3. I thought it would be good to download but the next day I was terrorized by the blue screen of death. Turned out that SP3 was the cause of it. I still had my backups so it was a small step to a second format.
Now everything is fine again but I don't want it to happen again. That's why I'm looking for an active virusprogram that would terminate anything that enters my computer. But it should not make my comp slow down because I hate that. I have AdWare-Pro and Spybot but they only work when I open them. Help..? (It's Windows XP btw...)
