In that case, if it really is bakeable or pottery clay, have you considered (perhaps for future times, since it's a little late now to do this kind of thing) baking the heart in a kiln so it will last forever? That could be a very romantic gesture, if you put it to her the right way; after all, properly baked clay can endure both heat and cold better than even the strongest metals. Then again, she might just be a little freaked out at the idea of "forever." I certainly would be.
For myself, I'm pretty sure I'll get my ladyfriend some roses; white ones, specifically. White roses represent purity, which I think she thinks I lack. It will likely be reassuring to her for me to declare, through the gift I give, that my intentions with regards to her are pure.
