Are Computer Keyboards Dishwasher Safe? Well that's a question we should consider in the future. WHY?? I saw this on CNN:

A computer keyboard contains 5 times more bacteria than a toilet seat!! If you think about it you'd know why.

A keyboard is used by many people. The fingers you use for typing are the same ones which you use to eat, put in your nose and touch all kind of places. And I bet no one here washes his or her hands after using the computer, me neither. When you're using the keyboard of your own computer it's not that bad. But think about the ones at schools, library's, or even... an internetcafé!! And what happens behind a computer? People sneeze, people eat, some drool while sleeping...

Well, some of what you're talking about to address already exists... I mean, there are plastic covers for keyboards (think of something like plastic wrap), or the alternative, there are silicone-based flexible keyboards which are supposed to be spill-proofed.

Though of what you described, I dunno how realistic it is to ask internet cafe folks to dishwash their silicone keyboards (not to mention, what would happen at the connector end, or if it can stand up to the heat from a heated-drying procedure). As far as libraries.... last I looked, those don't generally have dishwashers. :p
