5. No, Pen Pen was quite sane. You will never meet a more-sane character in an anime.
I defer further detailed answers (or corrections) to all these questions, to someone who's actually seen this series more recently than six years ago. *^_^*
Perhaps, though, maybe taking a stroll on Wikipedia will answer a few questions. That's a thought, too.
